The two souls of Meriggio

Cousins and Partners in the Meriggio Project.
We’re not just two peas in a pod.

Matilde: Down-to-earth and unconventional, a travel lover, and very focused on ensuring the project grows in an ethical and sustainable way.

Edoardo: A young man from another era. A dreamer, deeply connected to his roots, yet always looking ahead to the future.

What brings us together is the ambition to give a historic brand a fresh spin, where tradition meets a modern, authentic approach to olive oil and how it’s enjoyed.

Our mission is to highlight the importance of extra virgin olive oil—not just for its taste and health benefits, but to elevate it to the same level of respect that Italian products like wine, and more recently, bread, have earned.

Retracing the "Salt Route"

The” Salt Route” were old trade roads that salt merchants used for centuries. The route connecting the Po river valley to Liguria was especially important, allowing people to trade for this valuable product, which was hard to find in northern regions far from the sea.

This route also saw olive oil being swapped for typical Piedmontese products.

It was precisely along this route that Meriggio was founded in 1924, a “road” that the company had been following since the beginning of the century in the silk trade, an activity that had already allowed the company to build loyalty among hundreds of families in those areas.

Meriggio Brand

In old, now rarely used Italian, “meriggiare” is a verb that captures the art of “sweet doing nothing.” You can spot it in 20th-century Italian poetry, from D’Annunzio to Montale.

Meriggiare is all about the calm and peace you need to truly enjoy not just our products, but also those everyday moments of togetherness that come with sharing good food.

Meriggio is an ambitious and forward-thinking project with a simple goal: helping people rediscover a slower pace of life, taking the time to savor life’s little moments.
